My feet are swept out from under me, sending me to the mat with a hard thud. 

'My God, who the hell is this guy?' 

Rolling to my side, my lungs burn with hunger for the precious oxygen that's been knocked out of them.

"Who the fuck are you?" I gasp, trying to sit up, but fall helplessly to my back.

"My name is Gabriel." His translucent gray eyes look at me like he can read my soul.

"Gabriel?" I wheeze. I sit upright, bending my legs and draping my arms over my knees. "Gabriel, like the archangel? What, you here to save my soul?" My sarcasm crackles through the air.

Suddenly his face is in mine, scowling and sexy. "Yeah, Gabriel, like the fucking archangel. Is your soul worth saving?"
